Local Businesses and Community Groups Jump Starts Back-to-School with Backpack Giveaway
Children will receive backpacks and teachers school supplies to start the new school year
Motivated by the credo that children are one of the most valuable assets that society has, several business owners and community groups partnered to host a Back-to-School Fair and Kickball Competition on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Doolittle Community Center, 1950 J, Street, Las Vegas, NV at 4:00 p.m.
This event will help send kids back to school in style by providing supplies essential for academic success. By surrounding these children in an environment where they feel confident and accomplished, this event will encourage students to continue striving for success, and helps to create a positive environment.
Backpacks and school supplies will be given to the first 500 children, accompanied by an adult, on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. A Supply Zone will be available for teachers to pick up supplies to replenish their classrooms while minding tight budgets and curriculum changes starting the school year.
Kickball Competition play will begin at 5:00 pm; participants will consist of 12 co-ed teams of 8-10 players from various businesses and community groups. This friendly game is a great opportunity for families, neighbors and communities to have fun, friendly competition.
The cost of school supplies can be a real burden to families as the start of the school year nears,” said Larry Smith, G Five Medical Consultants. “This event is a way that business owners and community groups can help students and teachers in our own community start the year off well.”
This event is made possible by the following sponsors: G Five Medical Consultants, Uplift Foundation of Nevada, Brooks Behavioral Health Center, Weiss and Christensen Law Firm, City of Las Vegas/Doolittle Community Center and Berkley Square.
