The Uplift Foundation recently participated in the Business + Education (BE) Engaged Conference 2016: Accelerating a New Nevada, on Monday, March 7 at the Smith Center for the Performing Arts.
Organized by the Las Vegas Global Economic Alliance (LVGEA) and the Las Vegas Metro Chamber of Commerce (Metro Chamber), the event brought leading Southern Nevada business organizations “together to commit time, talent, and resources in order to accelerate student achievement,” organizers said. The Uplift Foundation was among dozens of education and youth-serving nonprofits exposed to executives and decision makers in the public, private, academic and nonprofit sectors.
As a result of participating in the BE Engaged Conference, Uplift Foundation board members made valuable contacts with business and nonprofit leaders, contacts which are already paying dividends in the form of discussions about support for our programs and collaborations to improve operational functions. Many thanks to Board Member Ken Evans for apprising us of this wonderful opportunity. And many thanks to the LVGEA, Metro Chamber and all the sponsors for organizing such a great event and the nearly 700 business leaders for lending your time, talents and treasures to local nonprofits.
