Uplift is an active member of RenewNV, a partnership of organizations working to build and enhance Nevada’s clean energy economy.
Uplift has been actively involved in educating youth and minority communities, African-Americans in particular, on the environmental, economic and social benefits of clean and renewable energy. Those activities include but are not limited to:
- Messaging advocacy
- Community outreach
- Legislative involvement
- Providing opportunities for clean energy champions to spread the message
Uplift secured Aaron Clay, the CEO of SunSwarm Community Solar in Oakland, Calif., for a workshop on the economic and environmental benefits of solar energy during the Economic Summit & Student Leadership Conference on Dec. 10 at the North Las Vegas campus of the College of Southern Nevada.
Uplift also secured Vernard Williams of the Alliance for Climate Education (ACE), for an Oct. 27 lecture for youth in the City of Las Vegas’ Batteries Included program about how social issues interact with climate change.
Uplift received grant funding through Dec. 31, 2017, and plans on continue its community outreach and civic activism in the area of clean and renewable energy.
